Jane Murphy was a clinical support worker at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. It is believed she passed away on Saturday 16 April 2020.
Originally a cleaner who was then retrained as a clinical support worker, Jane Murphy worked at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for almost 30 years.
Affectionately known as “Ma Murphy”, the 73-year-old continued to work for the NHS up until a month before her death. She was said to have been a mentor for nurses and doctors who went on to become consultants and senior charge nurses ‘everywhere’.
Jane Murphy is remembered for her friendship, loyalty and kindness, with a colleague describing her as “one of the funniest, straight-talking, hard-working support workers” that the hospital will ever have.
Our thoughts go out to her family.
We will remember Jane Murphy.
